Nigeria Socialite and Instagram Influencer Ray Hushpuppi reportedly arrested by Interpol last night in Dubai, UAE. Hushpuppi apprehended alongside two of his friends that were with him at the time of the arrest.
As at the time of writing this story, details of what led to his arrest is not ascertain. However, there are allegations on social media that his arrest might have a connection to Internet Fraud and money laundering.
A Nigerian even tweeted what brought Interpol’s attention to Hushpuppi is most likely a brand new 2021 Rolls Royce Cullinan that estimated to be worth around $500,000.
Before his arrest, a lot of Nigerians have questioned the source of Hushpuppi’s wealth and how he sustains the luxurious lifestyle he showcases on social media.
This is not the first time Interpol has arrested a Nigerian.
Last year, a Nigerian entrepreneur popularly known as Invictus Obi, listed among Forbes Under 30 promising African Youth, was arrested and prosecuted by Interpol, and it was discovered that Invictus was involved internet scam
Another Instagram Socialite Mompha was arrested by EFCC last year after Interpol gave EFCC some intelligence report that led to his arrest when he visited Nigeria from Dubai.
With this series of cases, it is obvious Interpol is seriously working round the clock to arrest Nigerians involved in Internet Scam and Money Laundering.
It is no longer news that the image of Nigeria has been severely dented by Nigerians that have and are still involved in Internet Fraud known as ‘Yahoo.’
The get rich quick syndrome has eaten deep into Nigerian Youths to the extent that so many youths have chosen to cut corners instead of following the path of integrity, hard work, and persistence.
I will be keeping a tab on this story and also update you on all the recent development as they unfold.
Friends, do you think Hushpuppi’s arrest is good news or bad news for Nigeria?
